Announcement EDCTP ENDORSE Project

CLIMVIB is happy to announce that it has been awarded the contract for the EDCTP-CSA-Ebola-337 ENDORSE Project “ENhancing individual and institutional infectious Disease Outbreaks ResponSe capacities of healthcare professionals to mitigate infectious Emergencies in the Northern Uganda region”. The project is funded by the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), a public-public partnership between countries in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, and the European Union, whose second  programme is implemented as part of the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon 2020.

The project key objective is to build and strengthen individual and institutional preparedness to respond to infectious disease outbreaks resulting in health emergency at the regional and district level in Uganda. This will contribute to the enhancement of the overall national capacities.

To attain this specific objective, the project will assess existing capacities and training needs in order to develop a need-based and tailored training model to train healthcare professionals (laboratory and other healthcare personnel such as physicians and nurses) from district level hospitals in the target region.

The project will be jointly implemented by a consortium of four partners: University of Milan (Italy), which is the consortium leader, L. Sacco University Hospital (Italy), Kimmage Development Studies Centre (Ireland), and St. Mary’s Lacor Hospital (Uganda).

The project will design and develop a Train-theTrainer (TtT) training program to train at least two professionals (one from the laboratories and one from the infectious diseases unit) per identified hospital. These two professionals will be trained not only to enhance their capacities and skills in responding to infectious diseases outbreaks, but also to build or enhance their capacities and skills to further transfer their knowledge in their workplace. The TtT model will allow a multiplier effect in knowledge transfer and it will facilitate networking of hospitals at sub regional and regional level.

Congratulations to all the partners that contributed to the design of this successful project!
