EU/UNICRI Project C4 – Training Course
Biosafety and Biosecurity

Between September 28th and October 2nd, CLIMVIB had the pleasure to host 10 specialists from Georgia for a training course in biosafety and biosecurity that was held at the premises of L. Sacco University Hospital of Milan (Italy). The training course was organized within the framework of the EU / UNICRI Project C4 “Biosafety and biosecurity risk management for Georgia”. This project aimed to reduce biological threats in Georgia through raising awareness of staff working on biological material in Georgian institutions. About 60 specialist selected from a variety of institutions, who have undergone training in biosafety and biosecurity on the basis of National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) and by its training program. The training program was developed based on adoption of existing training materials and by considering of risk assessment analysis. With the aim to strengthen professional capacity in the field of biosafety, 8 specialists from laboratory network have undergone training in biosafety and biosecurity at our premises. These specialists will serve as trainers in the training activities planned in Georgia at the next stage in order to share their knowledge to other colleagues.
