New outbreak of unknown illness in Uganda
A new outbreak of an unknown disease has occurred in Uganda, in the city of Masaka, where, in the last few days, 6 people have been admitted to the local hospital. Patients present a variety of symptoms, typical of hemorrhagic fevers, such as intensive vomiting, advanced fever, passing bloody stool and yellow eyes.
Sources disagree on the exact number of confirmed deaths, but, nevertheless, preliminary testing for Ebola, Marburg disease and Rift Valley Fever resulted negative.
District and hospital teams, in collaboration with the Ugandan Ministry of Health, are currently working at identifying the nature of the disease and avoiding its spreading. Updates on the situation will follow.
