Zika virus and microcephaly in French Polynesia: a study on the link between them.
The 1st February 2016 WHO has declared the suspected link between Zika virus and microcephaly a Public Health Emergency of International Concern without precisely quantifying the association.
A recent study funded by Labex-IBEID, NIH-MIDAS, AXA Research fund and EU-Predemics has finally provided a quantitative estimate of the risk of microcephaly in neonates born by zika infected mothers.
Scientist focused on datas collected during French Polynesia outbreak (October 2013 – April 2014), the largest documented one before that in the Americas.
